“Transitioning to parenthood is a process. You need people you trust on your team. Learning to care for our babies takes many different versions of support, and I’m here to be part of your village.”

Abigail A. Boursiquot
MA, CCC-SLP, IBCLC

Abby earned her Master’s degree in speech language pathology from George Washington University in Washington, DC, and is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.  She has experience working in inpatient and outpatient pediatric and adult settings treating speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive disorders as an SLP, and has focused her career primarily in dysphagia and feeding management with both adults and infants. She has prior experience as an SLP in the neonatal intensive care unit and in several special care nurseries in Chicago. She has become an infant feeding specialist, specifically for medically complex infants, managing the issues that can occur with prematurity and breast/bottle feeding efficiency issues including tongue ties. After experiencing her own struggles with breastfeeding her first baby, Abby pursued Tethered Oral Tissues (TOTS) certification and completed mentorship and additional training hours to sit for the board examination to be recognized as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant to further serve the community she works with.

Abigail is very passionate about helping mothers from the perspective of an IBCLC, SLP, and preemie mom. These 3 perspectives help her leverage the expertise about mom’s body as an IBCLC, understanding the oral motor function of the infant as an SLP, and the therapeutic touch that only comes from going through it as a mother. This perspective helps Abby to be creative with her complex Mom-baby dyads and families, using bottle refusal strategies, oral motor exercises and suck training, as well as supplemental nursing systems to figure out ways to make Mom’s feeding journey sustainable - so they have more non-feeding time to bond with their baby!

Outside of work, you can find Abigail strolling the Beltline or East Atlanta streets with her 2 year old son, baby girl, and adorable lab-ish mutt leading the pack. She loves painting and traveling to new countries with her husband to immerse herself in new cultures. She especially loves exploring the parks, restaurants, and coffee shops in Atlanta. She grew up in Tampa, Florida and attended the University of Florida for her undergraduate degree, and also called Chicago home for several years.

Let’s connect so I can learn how we can support you.
